About this event

Dr. Goldhagen will address what we can do as concerned citizens to lobby for improvements to the health care system. He will discuss the Public Health response to COVID and provide an overview of the purpose and scope of County Health Department, its relationship and interactions with the State Health Department, and funding.

Jeff Goldhagen is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine and has more than four decades of experience working at the intersection of child health and child rights. He is the 2011 recipient of the AAP Job Lewis Smith Award for his work in child rights and health equity. Dr. Goldhagen served as director of the Duval County Health Department from 1993 through 2005. His March 2020 editorial describes his concerns about the current system in Florida and steps that should be taken to improve the system.
